BRIEF HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF HIRAM OF TYRE GRAND LODGE A.F. & A.M. The Illustrious R. J. Fletcher was the Past Grand Master of R. J. Fletcher Grand Lodge, and Hiram of Tyre Grand Lodge. Past Grand Master R. J. Fletcher was the Past Grand Orator of Prince Hall Masons for the State of California, being in accord with the teachings of the Illustrious John G. Jones. Excelsior Lodge of Sacramento, California of which R. J. Fletcher was the Right Worshipful Master. The members of Excelsior Lodge remained loyal to their Master. The Most Worshipful Saint John Grand Lodge of the State of Illinois issued Charters to the following lodges Alpine Lodge #1 Los Angeles, California, Excelsior Lodge # 2 Sacramento, California, and Eureka Lodge # 3 Los Angeles, California. These three Lodges met in convention in the City of Sacramento, California on June 3, 1910 and organized The M. W. R. J. Fletcher Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. (Colored) for the State of California and was incorporated in the same year. On May 26, 1914 the R. J. Fletcher Grand Lodge was changed to The Most Worshipful Hiram of Tyre Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. The first officers were as of the following: Ill. R. J. Fletcher Most Worshipful Grand Master Ill. W. S. Linn, Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Ill. D. R. Young Right Worshipful Senior Grand Warden Ill. C. A. Butler Right Worshipful Grand Junior Warden Ill. C. S. Flood Right Worshipful Grand Secretary.
